Why I Am on This Team

"I have witnessed multiple close and special people in my life battle cancer in the last several years. Some have laid down their fight and are now dwelling in the house of our Lord. Two very special people in my life are currently in multiple rounds of battle with blood cancers. I'm learning how to be supportive and positive without minimizing the reality of the battle they are in and the toll it is taking on their spirit and their family's spirits. I stand amazed at how close they are to God and how in one case, the battle has brought my friend back to her faith. I want to learn to be a supporter that does not take up energy and has right words to speak over my friends as they fight. I want my prayer vocabulary around cancer to be a battle cry against sickness and a return to God's plan to prosper us and give us a hope and a future. (Jer 29:11) Like God's message to the Jewish people in exile, I want to help my friends focus on trusting that God is working a bigger plan than what we can see right now. He will prosper us in all seasons, even in the hard ones."
