Kampsee was born and raised in Zanesville, Ohio. She graduated from Ohio University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration (Accounting) and an MBA. Throughout her career, she moved on a regular basis, but in 2005 she made her last career move to the St. Louis area. She retired as a Finance Director in 2020 after a 24 year journey that started with Sara Lee and through mergers and acquisitions ended with Tyson Foods. She has one daughter, a black Labrador, and loves to spend time at her second home in coastal South Carolina. Kampsee is a cancer survivor (breast cancer) and a cancer caregiver. Her deceased husband began working with Cancer Companions in 2016 after he retired and had survived his first occurrence with lung cancer. He started the Cancer Companions Support Group at their church and worked with Karen Tripp to train and assist the support groups at local churches.

When her husband passed from a second occurrence of lung cancer, Kampsee became active in volunteering and feels a calling to serve and support this wonder God based organization. God casually places so many people with cancer in her path, and she gets to share the good news of this organization with them on a regular basis. A fun fact is that Kampsee studied dancing for 13 years while growing up in Ohio. Tap, ballet and jazz were all part of the training. Being on the stage and performing provided her with confidence and all of the years of dancing exposed her to all types of music, which she still loves today.
